The 3rd Annual Sacramento Black Women’s Health & Wellness Conference (BWHWC) will commence on Saturday, August 11, 2018 from 9am – 3pm at the University of California, Davis-Education Building, [address: 4610 X Street, Sacramento, CA 95817].
Our motto is “A Healthier You! A Healthier Me! A Healthier We!” The purpose of this conference is to focus on reducing health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women by raising awareness about mental and physical health. The conference will educate attendees about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
As you KNOW! Black women in Sacramento County, have the highest prevalence of diabetes (13.2 %), hypertension (43.3%), and are most infected by sexually transmitted infections and HIV. In addition, Black women suffer tremendously from depression and are the least likely to receive treatment.
Last year’s conference was an enormous success! There were over 150 women in attendance. Each woman was provided the space to engage with one another, as well as community health services. They were provided with amazing resources from our vendors and inspired by our guest speakers. Participants were also extremely engaged in our interactive health workshops and learned about the importance of prioritizing their mental and physical health.
Stay tuned for more information on the next Sac BHWHC!!
